MY LARGEST COMPLAINT IS THAT MY FATHER WHO OWNS A 2008 DODGE DAKOTA GOT THE VERY SAME RECALL AND HAS HAD HIS FIXED AND REPLACED IN A TIMELY MANNER. MY VEHICLE HOWEVER SEEMS TO BE SETTING ON THE BACK BURNER AWAITING THIS FIX SINCE MY INITIAL LETTER WAS RECEIVED. IT WILL BE 2 YEARS IN JULY THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FIX TO HAPPEN AND I REFUSE TO, OR CANNOT, PARK MY VEHICLE AS IT IS MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. THEREFORE MY PASSENGERS, AS WELL AS MY OWN, LIFE IS ON THE LINE BECAUSE OF THIS SERIOUS SNAFU.

THE DEALER (AUBURN FORD, 1650 GRASS VALLEY HWY, AUBURN, CA 95603, (530) 823-6591) DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE HAD A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD SINCE JULY 2016 AND CANNOT GET THE RECALL COMPLETED. LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOW CLAIMS THAT I WILL BE AT THE END OF THE PROCESS BECAUSE OF LOWER HUMIDITY HERE THAN OTHER AREAS WHERE RECALL NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED. DEALERSHIP ALSO CLAIMS REPLACEMENT FACTORY (TO MAKE REPLACEMENT AIRBAG SYSTEM) BURNED DOWN. I HAVE NOT HAD A WRECK TO CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, BUT AM WORRIED ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF THIS IS NOT REMEDIED SOON. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED NOTICE THAT TAKATA HAS FILED BANKRUPTCY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE PANORAMIC ROOF CRACKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL WAS BURNED OUT AND THE COMPUTER, ECM, AND SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
