I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO MAKE A TURN AND ONCE THE GREEN LIGHT CAME ON I STEPPED ON THE GAS. I WAS ABOUT TO STOP AT THE NEXT RED LIGHT AND MY BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK. A METAL NOISE CAN BE HEARD AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. THE CLOSER I GOT I KEPT STEPPING ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE "BRAKE ASSIST" LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND GAVE THE BRAKES A FEW PUMPS AND STILL WOULDN'T BREAK UNTIL I SHUT THE CAR AND TURNED BACK ON. I RELEASED THE HANDLE BREAK ON AND OFF. ALSO STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NOW I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT TILL MONDAY WHEN I CALL THE DEALER. *TR

WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THERE IS A LOUD SOUND WHAT SOUNDS LIKE RUBBING COMING FROM REAR TIRES. TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION IN WHICH THE MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE. THREE DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION ON MY SCREEN STATING TO SERVICE THE PARKING BREAK.

MY CAMARO'S ACCELERATOR STOPPED FUNCTIONING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP WHILE DODGING TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE RAN, AT IDLE. I PUT IT IN PARK. I STILL COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I COULD FLOOR IT. NOTHING BUT IDLE. I TURNED OFF THE POWER AND CUT IT BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALER. THIS IS ALMOST THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE FUNCTIONAL HACK AS DEMONSTRATED IN THE WIRED MAGAZINE "JEEP HACK" VIDEO. AFTER TROUBLESHOOTING IT 9 DAYS, THE DEALER GAVE ME THE FOLLOWING INFO. U100 DATA BUS: ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) A - NO COMMUNICATION U101 DATA BUS: TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) - NO COMMUNICATION U121 DATA BUS: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL MODULE - NO COMMUNICATION U176 DATA BUS: SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) SENSOR G - NO COMMUNICATION I BELIEVE THIS TO BE EITHER A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT, OR A MALICIOUS HACKING ATTEMPT. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I CAN'T DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT THE FEAR OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN. WITHOUT WARNING. GM'S OFFICIAL ANSWER IS THAT THEY WILL GIVE ME AN OIL CHANGE COUPON. I DO NOT FIND THIS SATISFACTORY. I FIND IT A HUGE DANGER TO MY LIFE AND THOSE AROUND ME. I AM INSULTED THAT GM FINDS IT FUNNY. RESEARCH I HAVE DONE SHOWS THAT THEY HAVE COVERED UP STUFF LIKE THIS BEFORE. I THINK THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW. I ASKED GM FOR CONTACT INFO ON THEIR FEDERAL OVERSEER FOR THE IGNITION ISSUE. THEY REFUSED. I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE LEARNED THEIR LESSON.

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. 'INCIDENT #1: ON JUNE 15, 2018, AFTER MAKING MY NORMAL COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK, I ARRIVED HOME. LATER THAT EVENING, WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR, I WAS NOT ABLE TO START IT AT ALL. I WAS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE STARTER - AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT NEED TO BE OF CONCERN TO A NEW CAR OWNER. WHILE I WAS PROVIDED WITH A LOANER CAR, I WAS HIGHLY INCONVENIENCED DURING MY FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND. 'INCIDENT #2: WHILE DRIVING CAR TO AN APPOINTMENT ON THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2018, THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK AND I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. I REPEATEDLY TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES BUT THIS DID NOT WORK. TO AVOID CRASHING, RISKING MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THE OTHER ROAD USERS, I HAD TO MAKE A QUICK DECISION. THIS DECISION WAS FOR ME TO KICK THE GAS PEDAL TO BREAK IT. IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A SAFE LOCATION, I LITERALLY HAD TO USE AN UMBRELLA IN PLACE OF THE GAS PEDAL TO GIVE POWER TO THE CAR.

THE CAR WAS MAKING A TURN IN INCLEMENT WEATHER WHEN IT LOST TRACTION. IN EVERY EFFORT TO SLOW THE VEHICLE, MY HUSBAND (WHOM WAS DRIVING) DOWNSHIFTED TO THIRD GEAR, AS THE CAR WAS SLIDING INTO A DITCH THE CLUTCH STUCK TO THE FLOOR (AS IT HAS DONE BEFORE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAS BEEN MENTIONED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP), THE BRAKES WENT OUT, THE E-BRAKE WAS PULLED IN AN INTENSE EFFORT TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DURING THE LOSS OF CONTROL FROM IMPACTING AN ELECTRICAL POLE. WHEN THE FIRST IMPACT WAS MADE INTO THE DITCH, ALL 4 CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE MAKING A SUDDEN SHARP LEFT TURN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP COMPLETELY, BRAKES COULD NO LONGER BE DEPRESSED ANY FURTHER AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. ONCE VEHICLE CAME TO FULL STOP, THE IGNITION WOULD NOT RELEASE MY KEY OR LET ME START THE CAR AFTER SHIFTING IT BACK INTO PARK. I TRIED SHIFTING OUT AND BACK INTO PARK, OPENING THE DRIVER DOOR AND CLOSING IT WITH NO FIX. AFTER 3 MINUTES, THE CAR FINALLY LET ME START THE ENGINE AND RELEASED THE WHEEL, BRAKES AND KEY. ONSTAR'S DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT TIME OF INCIDENT SHOWED NO PROBLEMS. WENT TO DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING AND CHEVY'S TECHNICIAN SAID THERE ARE NO CODES THAT PULL UP. THE TECHNICIAN AND I BOTH REENACTED THE SITUATION WITH THEIR DIAGNOSTIC LAPTOP AND COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO DO IT AGAIN AND I WAS SENT OFF WITH "NO KNOWN ISSUES FOUND". *TR
