ON 5/8/21, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATLY55-60 MPH, I HIT A POTHOLE ON HWY231 SOUTH (4 LANE) AND THE FRONT END OF MY 2011 F350 TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND BECAME HARD TO STEER. I HAD TO ALMOST STOP BEFORE IT QUIT SHAKING. I WAS AFRAID WE (WIFE & I) WERE GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND AFTER INSPECTION, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A PROBLEM ONLY A FORD DEALER COULD FIX. THE SHOP HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE AND FORD REFUSED TO TELL THEM WHAT PARTS WERE NEEDED TO DO THAT FIX. ON 5/12/21, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO TALLASSEE AUTOMOTIVE FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. AFTER INSPECTION, THEY SAID THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM AND COULD FIX IT FOR $1100 (OR $11?? SOMETHING. I WAS FLABBERGASTED AT THE AMOUNT, BUT HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED AND AGREED. THEY OREDERED PARTS AND CALLED TWO DAYS LATER TO COME PICK IT UP. UPON ARRIVAL, THEY SAID MY BILL WAS $1450. I COMPLAINED LOUDLY THAT THEY TOLD ME $1100 SOMETHING. AFTER CONSULTATION BETWEEN SOMEONE I DID NOT SEE, THEY AGREED TO DISCOUNT IT BY $300. LATER SOMEONE TOLD ME THEY HAD HEARD OF THIS FORD PROBLEM AND I SHOULD LOOK IT UP ONLINE. I DID AND FOUND STORIES ABOUT SOMETHING CALLED THE "DEATH WABBLE." MY PURPOSE FOR THIS COMPLAINT IS TO ADD MY VOICE TO THE GROUP OF PEPOPLE WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AND MAY REQUIRE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATH TO UNKNOWING PEOPLE. AS FOR THE REPAIRS, IT SEEMS THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING BETWEEN THE TWO FRONT WHEELS AND THE STEERING COLUMN. NOT BEING A MECHANIC, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS OR WHAT WAS REALLY NECESSARY TO FIX IT. NO SYMPTOMS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT INDICATED THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS OR EVENTS THAT COULD HAVE MADE ME CHECK OUT ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS SITUATION. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO., THE POLICE, OR INSURANCE COMPANY. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, IT IS APPARENT FORD IS AWARE OF THIIS PROBLEM AND CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY.

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING HOME, I HEAR SOMETHING PULL A LOOSE AND A SIZZLING SOUND. PULLED OVER TO CHECK TIRES, THEY WERE OK. PULLED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD LOUD SOUNDS OF METAL AS THOUGH EVERYTHING UNDER MY CAR WAS BREAKING APART. PULL OVER AGAIN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE NOISE STOPPED. OPENED DOOR AND NOTICE SMOKE (THOUGHT TO BE FLUIDS) AND FELT HEAT ON THE FLOOR BOARD. OPEN DOOR AGAIN AND SAW FIRE.

WHEN THE TRUCK REACHES SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL GO INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKE, THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE DRIVER LOOSES PARTIAL CONTROL AND HAS TO FIGHT TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN A SINGLE LANE FOR SAFETY UNTIL THE TRUCK SPEED GETS UNDER 45 MPH. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR THE WOBBLE. WE HAVE CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT, THE TIRES, THE TIE RODS, THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING, BRAKES AND BEARINGS AND ALL ARE IN MECHANICAL ORDER. WE DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY DAILY WITH TRAFFIC SPEEDS FROM 60-75MPH. I DO NOT HAVE PHOTOS, BUT WE DO HAVE A SHORT VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING.

WHILE ACCELERATING UP TO A CRUISING SPEED ON A LOCAL INTERSTATE, THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, SEVERELY LIMITING MY ABILITY TO SAFELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE (A/K/A A "DEATH WOBBLE") . I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF AN INTERSTATE (WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH) AND MOVE CAREFULLY OVER TO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE ISSUE HAS PERSISTED DESPITE HAVING MY TIRES BALANCED AND FRONT END ALIGNED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR ANOTHER WARRANTY ITEM ON 2/3-4/2020 AND REQUESTED THAT THIS PROBLEM BE LOOKED INTO AS WELL. I WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE TRUCK NEEDED "AN ENTIRE NEW FRONT END" AT A COST OF OVER $1,800 AS IT WAS SOMETHING COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WE HAVE ON THE TRUCK (UP TO 75,000 MILES).

MY SUPER DUTY IS DOING A DEATH WOBBLE WHICH IS VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE TRUCK IT ONLY HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THERE IS NO WARNING TO WHEN IT HAPPENS AND DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME MY FRIEND HAS 90 OF THOSE TRUCKS AND MORE THAN HALF OF HIS ARE DOING IT FORD REPLACED EVERYTHING IN THE FRONT END AND HE DROVE 5 MILES AND IT STARTED TO DO IT AGAIN FORD HAS NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT'S HAPPENING TO THE WHOLE LINE OF SUPER DUTYS I HAVE ALMOST KILLED MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO FORD IS GOING TO TAKE IT IN AND SEE WHAT THEY FIND BUT I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX IT MY TRUCK IS STOCK WITH 68K MILEAGE 2ND OWNER EVERY SERVICE HAS BEEN DONE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP THEY EITHER NEED TO DO A RECALL OR GIVE ME ANOTHER TRUCK BECAUSE I HAVE CALLED EVERYONE BEEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND EACH ONE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM IN THE FRONT END THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THIS FIRST STARTED IN JUNE AND HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I GET ON THE HIGHWAY AT LEAST ONCE SO I STOPPED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED AND BECAUSE FORD WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM THE WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT IF YOU SEND ME A WAY TO SEND YOU A VIDEO OF THIS I WILL FORD HEADQUARTERS IS GOING TO TRY AND GET THIS FIXED OR POSSIBLY BUY BACK THE TRUCK BUT IT IS PAID FOR AND I DON'T WANT A TRUCK PAYMENT SO I WOULD ONLY ACCEPT SOMETHING LIKE A NEW TRUCK OR MORE THAN WHAT IT IS WORTH WHICH IS 40000

AT A DEAD STOP ON A RED LIGHT THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING BY ITSELF FORCING ME TO STEP ON THE BRAKES WITH A GREAT AMOUNT OF FORCE, IT HAPPEN SO UNEXPECTEDLY THAT I DIN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE CAR ACCELERATED ITSELF THREE OR FOUR TIMES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT ON NEUTRAL VERY UNEASY AND SCARY SITUATION TO FIND YOUR SELF IN.

EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSORS FAIL REPEATEDLY. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. REDUCTANT HEATER A CONTROL PERFORMANCE HAS NOW FAILED AS WELL (ALL PART OF THE DIESEL EMISSIONS DISASTER). ASIDE FROM CONSTANT BREAKDOWNS DUE TO EMISSION RELATED ITEMS THE TRUCK HAS SHUTOFF ABRUPTLY WHEN IT ENCOUNTERS ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE HAS SHUT ITSELF DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO THESE ISSUES. VEHICLE SAID PULL OVER AND WITHIN 10 SECONDS IT SHUT DOWN ON THE FREEWAY ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. AS FAR AS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED IT HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO REPLACE THE SAME SENSORS AND NOW OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE DIESEL EMISSIONS PACKAGE ARE FAILING AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTS ITSELF FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHILE MOVING FORWARD WHILE DECELERATING AT SLOW SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY UNDER 5 MPH.) THERE IS A SUDDEN JERK, AND EVERYONE / EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IS THROWN FORWARD AS THE VEHICLE JUMPS TO A DEAD STOP. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS AND FURTHER, CAN PROBABLY CAUSE RAPID DETERIORATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE WAS FIRST PRESENTED IN JANUARY 2017 TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN RENO, NV WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT CHARGED ~$140 FOR THE ANALYSIS. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECORD WITH MB OF SUCH AN ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT IF THE ISSUE WAS LATER FOUND AND REPAIRED, THE DEALERSHIP WOULD CREDIT THE EVALUATION COSTS. DURING A TRIP TO SALT LAKE CITY THIS WEEK THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE SLC MERCEDES DEALERSHIP (KEN GARFF). AT TODAY'S APPOINTMENT (3/29/17), THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY FOUND A DESCRIPTION OF THIS EXACT ISSUE IN THE MB DATABASE AND HAVE A RECOMMENDED FIX. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT FIX IS OVER $800 AND MERCEDES WILL NOT TAKE AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING THIS, AS IT IS NOT A "RECALL." THIS IS MOST UPSETTING, AS I VIEW THE SUDDEN STOPPING AND TRANSMISSION CHANGE WHILE MOVING AS A SAFETY AND A LONGEVITY ISSUE FOR THE VEHICLE. I AM PLANNING ON TAKING THE VEHICLE IN THIS WEEK TO MB SLC AND HAVING THE PRESCRIBED REPAIRS COMPLETED. FURTHER, I BELIEVE THAT MERCEDES-BENZ SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BOTH ETHICALLY AND FINANCIALLY FOR RESOLVING THIS ENGINEERING DEFECT.

DEATH WOBBLE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS. WE HAVE REPLACED TIRES, SHOCKS, STEERING DAMPENER AND TRACK BAR. IF WE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE IN A CURVE THE DEATH WOBBLE IS SO SEVERE IT IS LUCKY THAT I HAVE NOT LOST CONTROL. BUT THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO STOP THE TRUCK - ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN KILLED WITH PEOPLE BARELY ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ME. IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS, AS YET, UNACKNOWLEDGED. COMMONLY ATTRIBUTED TO THE 'FAULTY PARTS' THAT DO NOT FIX THE ISSUE FOR MORE THAN A VERY SHORT TIME. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY PRETEND TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE AS THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE STATED IN COMPLAINTS ACROSS THE INTERNET. IT HAS BECOME EVEN MORE SEVERE AND WILL HAPPEN EVEN WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITHOUT THE STEERING IN A CURVE. THE ISSUE FIRST BEGAN AT ABOUT 90,000 MILES. TYPICALLY AT 60-65 MILES PER HOUR. TODAY IT WAS AT 60 MPH, 30-40 MPH REPEATEDLY.
