LOWER ENGINE OIL PAN GASKET AND FRONT TIMING COVER BOTH LEAKING OIL. NOTED DURING OIL CHANGE. VISTA TWIN PANEL SUNROOF / MOONROOF CABLES IN TRACK ASSEMBLY STUCK, MOTORS BURNT OUT. ATTEMPT TO OPEN ROOF WHILE CAR WAS STILL, ROOF PARTLY OPENED, MOTORS MADE NOISE AS IF TRYING TO SLIDE OPEN BUT WERE STUCK. 30 SECONDS (APPROX) OF NOISE THEN SILENCE. BUTTONS TO CLOSE ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL, BUTTON TO OPEN CAUSES SMALL MOVEMENT IN PANEL TO LIFT UP AND DOWN, THEN STOPS. MOONROOF IS STUCK SLIGHTLY DOWN AND OPEN.

10 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS A PRETTY CONSISTENT HISTORY OF SHIFTING ROUGHLY, ESPECIALLY, SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS 3 & 4. IT ACTUALLY FAILS TO ENGAGE FORWARD BRIEFLY AND THEN MAKES A CLANGING NOISE BEFORE IT SHIFTS INTO 4TH GEAR; IN SPORT MODE IT WILL STICK IN 6TH GEAR. I HAVE REPORTED THESE PROBLEMS AT LEAST 4 TIMES TO SHOTTENKIRK FORD IN JASPER GA WHEN I HAVE HAD SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. EVERY TIME I'VE BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE I WAS JUST TOLD A DIFFERENT EXCUSE AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE MOST RECENT SERVICE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID MY TRUCK WAS 2 QUARTS LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. MY MOST RECENT AND MOST CONCERNING INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE, THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SWERVE BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER AND THEN IT KEPT TRYING TO SHIFT IN BETWEEN GEARS AND THEN I NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY TRUCK. THE CARS THAT HAD FOLLOWED ME STARTED TO DROP BACK BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS SPRAYING WHAT I BELIEVE TO HAVE BEEN TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT. I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA SC AND AFTER THEY CHECKED THE DIP STICK FOR THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CLAIMED IT HAD TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT WAS NOT A WARRANTIED ITEM AND THAT MY TRUCK WAS FINE TO DRIVE. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM HAS BEEN QUITE AGGRAVATING BUT NOW IT POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD TO ME AND MY FAMILY.

TRANSMISSION ISSUE: INTERMITTENT LOUD BANG UPON STARTING THE ENGINE. INTERMITTENT RATTLE DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. THERE IS ALSO HARSH UP AND DOWNSHIFTS IN THE VEHICLE. DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE WILL BE UP SHIFTING AND THEN IT WILL LOSE POWER UNTIL IT FINDS THE CORRECT GEAR, WHEN IT WILL THEN SLAM INTO GEAR. AGAIN THESE ARE ALL INTERMITTENT AND HARD TO MAKE HAPPEN ON DEMAND. ON OCCASION THE VEHICLE WILL BE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL BANG INTO ANOTHER GEAR, ALL WHILE BEING COMPLETELY STATIONARY. THE VEHICLE HAS A 13,200 MILES ON IT, AND IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING AN OIL CONSUMPTION SURVEY THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE MOTOR BURNING OIL. ALL OF THESE ARE ONGOING ISSUES THAT HAPPEN ON RANDOM DAYS AND TIMES, WHILE BOTH COLD AND WARM.

ON 01-24-2019, I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND NOTICED AN ODOR COMING FROM MY 2017 FORD F-150 TRUCK AND SAW SOME SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A MOTORIST NEXT TO ME POINTED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK; I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW AND HE SAID HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A FIRE UNDER THE TRUCK. I PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE TRUCK, SAW A SMALL FIRE ON THE FRAME UNDER THE ENGINE. THE OTHER MOTORIST PUT IT OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. A STATE POLICE OFFICER CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. WHO FURTHER EXTINGUISHED THE SMOLDERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. MY INSURANCE COMPANY SENT AN ADJUSTER WHO CONCLUDED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILED PINON SEAL IN THE DIFFERENTIAL, WHICH IS PART OF THE POWER TRAIN. THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT OF FORD MOTOR CO. (OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL) STATED THAT THE FIRE OCCURRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON PAVEMENT IN 4WD. I ASSERT THAT THIS IS NOT TRUE AND IS A TACTIC OF FORD MOTOR CO. TO AVOID HONORING THEIR PRODUCT WARRANTY OR TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD.

FIRST EVENT: WHILE I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE ON A TWO WAY ROAD ' SINGLE LANE -, I OVERTOOK A BIG TRUCK ON AN UPHILL AREA, AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY TRUCK DIED. LOST ALL THE POWER AND I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY MANEUVER TO AVOID THE BIG TRUCK I WAS OVERTAKING AND ALSO THE CAR THAT APPEARED AT THE CURVE AHEAD. IT WAS CLOSE. I ALMOST CRASHED. AFTER CALMED ME DOWN, I STEP OUT OF THE TRUCK, OPENED THE CAPOT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AND MAKING THIS HUGE 'VALVE' NOISE. I TOOK MY PHONE AND RECORDED A VIDEO. SOME COMPONENT ON A SIDE OF THE VALVE COVER WAS MOVING AND MAKING THAT NOISE AND ALL THE SUDDEN, I SMELLED GAS, LOOKED DOWN THE SCAPE MANIFOLD AND SAW GAS ALL OVER IT. I RAN BACK TO THE CABIN AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, TOOK THE EXTINGUISHER AND RAN BACK TO THE CAPOT. FORTUNATELY NOTHING HAPPENED. SECOND EVENT: WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 120 KM/H, ON A PRETTY FLAT AREA, THE GEAR SHIFTED FROM 10 TO 7 WITH NO REASON AT ALL, AND I FELT LIKE THE TRUCK STARTED TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES. THE HIGHWAY WAS CLEAR IN FRONT OF ME. NO CAR OR OBSTACLES WERE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. SECONDS AFTER THAT, THE ENGINE STARTED TO FAIL, DROPPING THE RPMS LIKE THOSE OLD MECHANICAL CARBURETOR STUCK WITH A DIRT AND SUDDENLY, ALL GOT BACK TO NORMAL. FORTUNATELY WAS ALMOST REACHING THE TOLL CONTROL TO ACCESS TO MY CITY. SO I SLOWED DOWN TO 50 KMS/H, PUT MY FOOT ON OVER THE BRAKES AND STARTED TO PRESS IT VERY GENTLE. SUDDENLY AND WITH NO WARNING, THE TRUCK SPED UP ITSELF FULL GAS AND I HAD TO DODGE A CAR THAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME DRIVING ON THE LINE TO THE TOLL AND PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD. SEVERAL LIGHTS INVADED THE DASHBOARD; LOW COOLANT, CHECK ENGINE, THE DASH BOARD DIMMER LIGHT AND OTHERS THAT I COULDN'T SAW ON THIS FAST FLASH OF LIGHTS. IT WAS LIKE THE CPU WAS CRAZY. AFTER THAT, TRUCK WENT BACK TO NORMAL, BUT SEVERAL OBD2 ERRORS GOT STORED.

I HAVE 2018 FORD F150 RAPTOR EDITION AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH IT SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 BRAND NEW. CURRENTLY THE ENGINE IS BLOWN AND IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SERVICE FOR OVER 118 DAYS SINCE PURCHASE.I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, FIRST DAY AFTER GETTING TRUCK BACK FROM 28 DAY SERVICE AND THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WHICH IS WHY IT WAS IN SERVICE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND FORD AND THEY ADVISED TO KEEP DRIVING UNTIL THEY HEARD BACK FROM THE FORD HOTLINE. A WEEK OR SO LATER IT WAS BROKE DOWN SMOKING ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IN ADDITION THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER PROBLEMS.
