WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT THIS ENGAGES EVEN BEFORE BRAKE PRESSURE HITS 100%. SO WHEN IN AN UPHILL OR DOWNHILL AND COMING TO A STOP THE CAR TENDS TO SHUT DOWN WHEN IT REACHES LOW SPEEDS. HOWEVER, WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR STARTS ROLLING AND YOU CAN'T STEER CORRECTLY BECAUSE POWER STEERING IS TURNED OFF. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT ENGAGES BEFORE PRESSURE IS 100% CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUT DOWN EARLY AND YOU START ROLLING UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING. VEHICLE WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT IN A SLIGHT UPHILL. CAR ROLLED FROM :34-:50 SECONDS BACKWARD. I RE GAINED CONTROL OF NY CAR ONCE I LET GO COMPLETELY OFF MY BRAKE(THIS CAUSES THE AUTO STOP ON/OFF TO DISENGAGE)

MY CAR ACTS AS IF IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT AT 20MPH, IT IS AUTOMATIC AND THE CAR JERKS VIOLENTLY WHEN IN MOTION AND CAN BE ON AND OFF. MY FIRST CODE THAT POPPED UP WAS FOR A MISFIRE, THE SECOND FOR SERVICING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND GOES OVER 15MPH. ONCE I GET TO THE DESIRED SPEED IT'LL STOP JERKING AS BAD BUT IF I SLOW DOWN A LITTLE AND SPEED BACK UP IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN AND DOES NOT FEEL LIKE PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR IS MAKING THE CAR MOVE AT ALL. I REPEATEDLY PRESS ON THE GAS AND LET GO TO TRY TO GET IT TO STOP BUT CONTINUE IN MOTION. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE WEEK AND I HAVE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION GOING APPROX 35 MPH UPHILL ON RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN IT STARTED VIBRATING AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER INTO GAS STATION AND SHUT CAR OFF. SAT FOR 2 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT REMAINED ON WITH SOME VIBRATION. MERGED ONTO HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO REACH THE SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH. CRUZE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH. SERVICE BREAKS LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN GOT AN ALERT STATING THAT POWER STEERING HAD FAILED. CAR BASICALLY SHUT ITSELF DOWN AND I HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT TO FULLY TURN OFF. STEAM/SMOKE THEN BEGAN COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND LIQUID FROM THE CAR WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD. TOWED TO CHEVY DEALER WHERE THEY DISCOVERED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. CAR HAD 27K MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS ORDEAL.

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ONCE HE STOPPED THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING FUNCTION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

HAS LOST IN ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS BEEN DOING THAT FOR THE LAST MONTH OR 2. ALSO THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO NOT BE WORKING NO LIGHTS COME ON WHEN FLUIDS ARE NEEDED.

ON TWO OCCASIONS, DURING ACCELERATION, I EXPERIENCE A STUCK THROTTLE CONDITION ON MY 2016 CHEVY CRUISE. ONCE IN EARLY APRIL (REPORTED TO DEALER) ON A CITY STREET AND A SECOND TIME ON MAY 10TH, 2017 ON A FREEWAY ON RAMP. DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS ABLE HIT THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY FOOT AND IT RELEASED, DURING THE SECOND ACCELERATION INCIDENT, I TRIED TO UNSEAT THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT TO NO AVAIL, I THEN PUSHED THE SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL AND THE ACCELERATOR DISLODGED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FISHER CHEVROLET ON MAY 10TH AND THEY ROAD TESTED THE CAR AND WERE UNABLE TO "VERIFY THE CONCERN." THE DEALER HAS SINCE CALLED ME AND STATED THAT THEY HAD CONTACTED GM ENGINEERING AND WERE TOLD THIS CONDITION COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IT DID HAPPEN, ON TWO OCCASIONS. IN BOTH CASES I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE IN S SITUATION WHERE NO ONE WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I'M GREATLY CONCERNED WITH THE VEHICLE'S CONDITION OF SAFETY. A STUCK THROTTLE IS A TERRIFYING AND SERIOUS SAFETY SITUATION. MY WIFE NOW REFUSES TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND GM DENIES THE POSSIBILITY OF IT HAPPENING. "I'M OFFENDED BY THEIR RESPONSE. THEY WANT ME TO RETURN TO DEALERSHIP FOR MORE TESTING. AT THIS POINT, I AM EXTREMELY HESITANT TO BE TOLD "WE FIXED IT". I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFETY OF THE CAR. I WANT GM TO BUY IT BACK! I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT AN SAFETY INCIDENT. I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT CHEVROLET'S HANDLING OF A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. I RECEIVED A LETTER ADVISING OF A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THAT IT MAY BREAK RENDERING THE CAR UNUSABLE. CHEVY EXPLICITLY SAYS NOT TO BRING THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT INSTEAD, THEY WILL EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THAT PART, AND COVER THE REPAIR IF IT FAILS. SOMETHING OF THIS SERIOUS AND DEBILITATING A NATURE SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER RECALL, IN MY OPINION. I WILL SUBMIT THE LETTER I RECEIVED FOR YOUR REVIEW.
