TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE FRONT WHEELS SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS IT SPUN AROUND TWICE AND CRASHED INTO A METAL DIVIDER. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT ABRUPTLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKES. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE CONTACT VEHICLE FRONT END WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED, NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE CONTACT. THE PERSON THAT THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO WAS NOT INJURED. THERE WAS NO NEED FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW HOOD, FRONT LIGHTS AND BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. A NHTSA ID NUMBER/ODI: 11220867 WAS FILED PREVIOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

FEB 2019, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE CHEVY DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAMARO BACK IN APRIL 2017, STATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAS A SAFETY RECALL WHICH EFFECT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. I READ UP ON THE RECALL WHICH STATED, THE ELECTRIC STEERING CAN FAIL WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE WHICH WILL MAKE IT HARD TO STEER. I CONTACTED THE DEALER TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE RECALL AND THAT THEY WILL REACH OUT TO ME WHEN THEY HAVE ONE. MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER N182182760. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER, 19V086 IT IS NOW JUNE 2019 AND ON 6/16/19, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ABOUT 15-20MPH, DRIVING AROUND A ROUNDABOUT AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME, CAUSING ME TO WRECK MY CAR WHICH CAUSED MY SEAT AND OVERHEAD AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY ALONG WITH SUSPENSION, WHEEL AND BODY DAMAGE. I HAD THE WHEEL TURNED LEFT GOING AROUND THE CIRCLE AND AS I WAS TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO THE RIGHT TO EXIT THE ROUNDABOUT, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, CAUSING ME TO RUN OVER TOP OF THE CURB STRIKING MY WHEELS ON THE EDGE OF THE STEEL SEWER AND BACK INTO THE STREET STRIKING THE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE ON AN ISLAND EXITING THE ROUNDABOUT WHICH CAUSED MY AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. ONCE MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED MY ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL WAS SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. I DID SUFFER A HARD IMPACT ON MY LEFT SHOULDER FROM THE AIRBAG. GM FINALLY CAME UP WITH A REMEDY THIS MONTH 6/2019 FOR THE RECALL. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE DEALER GAVE ME GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER TO CALL AND REPORT THE INCIDENT. I HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND IF MY CAR IS REPAIRABLE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE AND SUFFER HIGHER INSURANCE RATES ALL BECAUSE OF A RECALL THAT GM FAIL TO REPAIR IN A TIMELY MANNER. AS OF JUNE 15TH, 2019, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V086000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NONE OF MY 2017 CAMARO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER AN 18 WHEELER HIT ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS GOING APPROX. 55 MPH IN THE FAR SLOW RIGHT LANE. TRUCKER HIT ME ON DRIVERS SIDE AND MY CAR WAS HOOKED TO THE TRUCK. HE THEN DRUG ME APPROX. 50' AT SPEEDS OF 45-55 MPH. WHEN I DID FINALLY GET LOOSE FROM TRUCK IT THE SLUNG ME IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK WHERE HE THEN HIT ME AGAIN FROM BEHIND. AT LEAST ONE OF THE 4 AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. ESPECIALLY THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. THIS ANGERS ME B/C IT IS ONE MAIN REASON I PURCHASED THIS CAR. AND IN ADDITION, APPARENTLY NON OF THE CRASH RESPONSE SENSORS WORKED EITHER. ONSTAR WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTACT ME SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. I TRIED CALLING THEM WHILE I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. SAT ON HOLD FOR AN AGENT 10 MINS BEFORE I FINALLY HUNG UP.

VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT 3 MONTHS AGO. GM DOES NOT MANUFACTURE REPLACEMENT CURTAIN AIRBAGS FOR THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING AT REPAIR SHOP SINCE DECEMBER 28TH. ALL AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED AT TIME OF ACCIDENT. I HAVE NO RECOURSE, OTHER THAN TO TRY AND FIND USED AIRBAGS TO REPAIR MY CAR. APPARENTLY I ALSO HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER TO HAVE MY CAR RELEASED FROM BODY SHOP. THIS IS UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT A HUGE MANUFACTURING COMPANY WOULD PRODUCE AN AUTO, AND NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR IT. APPARENTLY THEY DO NOT HAVE A TIME FRAME FOR PRODUCTION. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE? THE VEHICLE WAS CUT OFF, AND SMASHED HEAD ON INTO A TREE ON A CITY STREET. MY CAR IS A CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1.

THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FOREARM AND NECK PAIN THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY CHEVROLET SAN DIEGO (750 CAMINO DEL RIO N, SAN DIEGO, CA 92108 (619) 297-4321), BUT NO DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO HAVE HIT SOMETHING; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS PERFORMED AS INTENDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123.
