CAR BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER UNDER PRESSURE, ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH. USUALLY WHEN COLD OR PULLING HARD ON A HILL OR PASSING. ENGINE RAN ROUGH, MISFIRING AND OUT OF BALANCE. COULD NOT CONTINUE TO PASS ON ONE OCCASSION; HAD TO PULL BACK, WRANGLE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND STOP VEHICLE. MISDIAGNOSED: REPLACED PLUGS, COIL & INJECTOR ON VALVE #5. DID NOT CORRECT. FINALLY DIAGNOSED AS BAD CAMSHAFT. VEHICLE HAS A HEMI. TECHNICIAN STATED HE HAS REPLACED MANY OF THESE ON VARIOUS ENGINES WITH A HEMI IN A FOUR YEAR RANGE. STATED IT IS A COMMON FAILURE ON THOSE VEHICLES BUT NOT LISTED ON A RECALL. THIS FAILURE IS A SAFETY HAZARD. HAVING EXPECTATIONS OF THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, AS IT NORMALLY WOULD, NEARLY CAUSED ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. ADDITIONALLY BOGGED DOWN TRAFFIC AS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CONTINUE AT A SPEED OVER 45 MPH. TRAFFIC BECAME BOTTLENECKED BEHIND ME ON THE INTERSTATE UNTIL I COULD WRANGLE TO THE SHOULDER. I ALSO OWN A DODGE RAM TRUCK IN THE SAME YEAR RANGE AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE TECHNICIAN TO BE PREPARED FOR IT TO GO OUT ON THAT VEHICLE ALSO.

ON 1/12/2017 I TOOK MY CHRYSLER 300 TO MOORE CHRYSLER BECAUSE OF A GROWLING NOISE IN THE ENGINE THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS SO THEY KEPT IT TWO DAYS CALLED SAID IT WAS DONE PAYED 1517.99 DOLLARS DROVE IT HOME, PULLED IN THE GARAGE HEARD THE SAME SOUND AS WHEN I TOOK IN THE FIRST TIME CALLED THEM TOLD ME BRING IT BACK FOR ANOTHER 1400.00 DOLLARS WE'LL LOOK AT IT NO WAY TOOK TO A MAN WHO BUILDS ENGINES FOR A LIVING HE TOOK THE OIL CAP OFF PUT HIS EAR DOWN TO THE ENGINE AND SAID YOUR TIMING CHAIN GUIDES ARE GONE THERE RUBBING METAL TO METAL AND IF YOU DON'T GET IT FIXED YOU WILL BLOW AN ENGINE. HE SAID THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 70MPH AND THE ENGINE BLOWS YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE SO I MAY KILL OR HURT MYSELF OR THOSE WITH ME OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT KILLING OR HURTING SOMEONE ELSE. CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SINCE 2014 OR EARLIER BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON THE 2.7 ENGINES HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DIE OR BE HURT BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED? IT COST ME AN OTHER 1100.00 DOLLAR TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED BUT I KNOW IT'S DONE RIGHT. I FEEL NOW I CAN TAKE FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN MY CAR AND FEEL SAFE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL CHRYSLER CORP. TO GET OFF SOME OF THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY GET FROM CUSTOMER WHO BUY THEIR CARS AND FIX WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED 1517.99 DOLLARS TO CHRYSLER WALK AROUND MONEY BUT TO A VIETNAM VETERAN ON A FIXED INCOME IT'S A LOT OF MONEY.

WHILE DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN BEFORE MERGING ONTO BUSY TRAFFIC ON A MAIN ROAD WHEN MY CAR CUT OFF. I TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN BUT IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING. AFTER TOW ATTEMPTS I STOPPED TRYING TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND SIGNALED FOR THE CARS BEHIND TO TRY TO GO AROUND (AS THIS WAS NOT EASY AS I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC). NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON, OR CAME ON PREVIOUSLY, I MAINTAINED ADEQUATE 3000 MI OIL CHANGES, AND MAINTENANCE. MEANWHILE A POLICE OFFICER HELPED ME PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND MOVED ME OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AND STAYED NEAR WHILE I WAITED ON THE TOW TRUCK. I AM GRATEFUL THAT MY CAR DID NOT STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE I WAS TRANSPORTING MY CHILD. THE THOUGHT OF MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLING IS FRUSTRATING AND SCARY! WITH THE MILEAGE OF MY CAR, THE ENGINE SHOULD BE THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES.

MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO A DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT HAS STALLED MANY TIMES ON ME WHILE AT A LOW SPEED. USUALLY IT HAPPENS WHILE TURNING CORNERS, GOING INTO DRIVEWAYS AND SOMETIMES AT STOPS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF IT STALLING WHILE TURNING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE HAD A MYRIAD OF THINGS FIXED BUT TO NO AVAIL IT STILL DOES THE STALLING. IF YOU KNOW OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE STALLING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND IF CHRYSLER HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER VEHICLES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY CHRYSLER 300 DIED WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE JUST CUT ITSELF OFF. IT LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE, I LOST MY POWER STEERING, NOR COULD I BRAKE. I WAS CLOSE TO BEING SLAMMED IN THE REAR. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER IT TO THE EDGE OF THE FREEWAY BECAUSE I WAS LUCKILY IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. IT TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO GET THE MOTOR TO RESTART. THIS POWER LOSS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND IS VERY FRIGHTENING. FROM TIME TO TIME I MUST CONTINUE TO TURN THE IGNITION TO THE START POSITION. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS PLAY WITHIN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND NO CONTACT IS MADE PREVENTING IT TO POWER ON. *TR

ON MORNING OF 10/24/14 WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED A MESSAGE CAME ON STATING "BATTERY SAVING MODE" LOOKED AT MANUAL THERE WAS NO INSTRUCTIONS AS TO WHAT THAT MEANT. THEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN, WHILE DRIVING THE RPM INDICATOR WOULD MOVE UP ON ITS OWN AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION AND ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER THE WARNING CAME ON THE CAR DESPITE PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THEN A RATTLING NOISE CAME ON SO I QUICKLY PROCEEDED TO ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE FREEWAY. AS I TRIED TO DO THAT THE STEERING STARTED LOCKING UP, I HAD TO PUSH VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AND STOP IT. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, UNABLE TO TURN ON OR OPERATE ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE JUMP STARTED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THEY WERE UNABLE TO CHARGE UP THE BATTERY AND NOW THEY BELIEVE AN ALTERNATOR FAILURE MAY BE THE REASON FOR THE ENGINE TO STALL. *TR

ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE ENGINE WAS STOPPEDCAR PARKED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, THE BATTERY INDICATOR CAME ON, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE CHARGING SYSTEM. I CONTINUED ON TO MY DESTINATION ABOUT 3 MILES. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THERE WAS AN OBVIOUS SMELL OF SOMETHING BEING "HOT" AND I RAISED THE HOOD TO SEE IF I COULD SEE IT. THE ALTERNATOR WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY HOT, AND SLIGHTLY SMOKING. ASSUMING IT WAS OK NOW THAT I HAD TURNED IT OFF, I WENT INSIDE THE BUILDING TO CALL THE DEALER. LUCKILY, I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY FURTHER AND DECIDED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND WENT OUTSIDE TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE CAR, THE ALTERNATOR HAD ACTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS BLAZING, DROPPING SOME MELTED MATERIALS ONTO A UNDERBODY AIR DAM AND APPEARED TO BE SPREADING. I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BEFORE ANY MORE DAMAGE OCCURRED. IT APPEARS THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THERE IS SOME WIRING DAMAGE AS WELL AS SOME DAMAGE TO THE SURROUNDING WIRING HARNESS. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THIS FIRE WOULD HAVE SPREAD TO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IN JUST A FEW MINUTES, AS IT APPEARED TO BE SELF-PROPAGATING AND ON ITS OWN WOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT. *TR
