THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOSE WITH LOUD CLICKING SOUND WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED. THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN TURN ON WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE CLICKING LOSE STEERING HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY OR DRIVING. CRUISE CONTROL STOCKS WHEN DRIVING. THIS STARTED 3 YEARS AGO. STOPPED USING CRUISE CONTROL. TOOK CAR TO HYUNDAI FOR BOTH. CLICKING/LOOSE STEERING IS A FAULTY PART THAT IS KNOW BY HYUNDAI AND HAS BEEN RECALLED ON SEVETAL OTHER HYUNDAI. BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN DONE FOR THE VELOSTER

TO MAKE A VERY LONG STORY SHORT, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND MY CAR SUDDENLY EXPLODED AND OIL SPEWED OUT TOWARDS THE REAR. I HAD TO GET MY ENGINE REPLACED IN LATE 2017 DUE TO THE ENGINE THROWING A ROD. IT TOOK 3 MONTHS TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS BEHIND DUE TO OTHER PEOPLE HAVING ENGINE MALFUNCTIONS. IT TOOK WEEKS TO GET A RENTAL WHICH WAS HECTIC BECAUSE ME AND MY HUSBAND BOTH WORKED AND COMMUTED WITH A 2-YEAR OLD. AFTER MY HUSBAND DROVE MY CAR OFF THE LOT, MY CAR WAS SOUNDING A LITTLE FUNNY, ALMOST LIKE A SUCKING NOSE THAT WE ENDED UP HAVING TO TAKE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THAT I NEEDED TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS WELL UNDER WARRANTY LIMIT. I ENDED UP SPEAKING WITH THE MANAGER AND HE HAD THE TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT TO ONLY BE TOLD IT WAS NOTHING ENGINE RELATED EVEN THOUGH MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON! A FEW MONTHS AFTER THAT, MY CAR STARTED LOSING POWER AND WAS INOPERABLE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I NEEDED ANOTHER ENGINE REPLACEMENT! THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY SINCE THEY ALREADY TOOK CARE OF IT THE FIRST TIME. THE COST TO REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER WHAT THE VALUE OF MY CAR IS. ME AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS NOT DRIVE-ABLE AND THEY ENDED UP SELLING THE VEHICLE AT AUCTION FOR $1700 IN FEBRUARY 2019. I RECENTLY JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR IS UNDER RECALL FOR THE SAME REASONS IT WAS IN THE SHOP THE FIRST 3 TIMES. HYUNDAI CONCLUDES THAT THE 2013 VELOSTER WERE HAVING ENGINE AND MECHANICAL ISSUES. I HAVE A RECALL NUMBER AND HAVE SPOKE TO 3 DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS TO SEE WHAT I CAN DO TO RESOLVE THE BALANCE I HAVE LEFT TO PAY ON THE CAR OF $8710. I KNEW THERE MUST HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE LAST FEW TIMES I'VE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THERE WERE A LOT OF VEHICLES NEEDING ENGINE REPLACEMENTS. THIS HAS BEEN FRUSTRATING TO DEAL WITH. *TR

ELECTRONIC GEAR MOTOR OVERHEATED AND LEFT VEHICLE IN OVERDRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY IN STOPPED/SLOWED TRAFFIC. ONCE IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, TRANSMISSION IS DISABLED AND WILL NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR. HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD TO HAVE TOWED. DEALER CALLED THE PART THE 'GEAR MOTOR ACTUATOR' AND THAT HE HAS DONE NUMEROUS REPLACEMENTS AND THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING.

THE PROBLEM INITIALLY STARTED WITH AN ERRANT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING WHEN IN REALITY I HAD A FAULTY WHEEL SPEED SENSOR (RIGHT FRONT). THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT WOULD CLEAR WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD PERSIST AND PROGRESSED TO THE ELECTRONIC STEERING DISABLING (NO STEERING), THE SPEED CONTROLS NOT FUNCTIONING (NO SPEEDOMETER OR CRUISE CONTROL), THE TRACTION CONTROL DISABLING (NO TRACTION CONTROL), AND MOST WORRISOME IS THAT THE BUILT IN KEYLESS IGNITION SAFETY SYSTEMS WERE DISABLED. THIS MEANT THAT THE KEYLESS IGNITION BUTTON (POSTIONED 2 INCHES FROM THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER!) WOULD AND DID TURN THE CAR OFF IF INADVERTATNLY BUMPED. I DOWN SHIFTED ON THE FREEWAY FROM 6TH TO 5TH AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND BUMPED THE BUTTON COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF THE ENTIRE CAR. 65 MPH AND NO CONTROL IS HORRIBLY DANGEROUS. THE DESIGN IS INHERENTLY FLAWED IF A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CAN DISABLE THE ENTIRE CAR AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.

ABOUT 10 FEET FROM MY PARKING SPACE, I PREPARED AND ALIGNED MY EYES TO PULL FORWARD INTO THE SPACE. SUDDENLY, MY CAR ACCELERATED AND I JUMPED THE CURB, AND CRASHED INTO MY APARTMENT BUILDING, WITHOUT ME BEING ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. NOW I'VE BEEN PARKING FOR MANY YEARS, AND I WAS NOT IMPAIRED IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. HOW FAST MUST THAT CAR HAVE ACCELERATED TO WHAT MPH? I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED THE WHOLE TIME I HAD THE CAR ABOUT A "LURCHING FORWARD", BE IT A RED LIGHT OR IN LINE AT FAST FOOD LINE DRIVE UP. ONCE IT STARTS LURCHING FORWARD I'M WORRIED IM GOING CRASH INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME IN LINE OR AT THE RED LIGHT.. ALSO, SOMETIMES WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, I HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE. THEN VIOLENTLY THROWS THE CAR FORWARD ACCELERATES. *JS

VEHICLE DOES NOT PRODUCE ANY CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. OTHER SYMPTOMS PRIOR TO THIS CONDITION WERE AN ENGINE MISS WHILE DRIVING AND COMPLETE STALL IN PARK. *TR

PURCHASED CAR ON 5/5/2012 WITH 6 MILES ON IT. WITHIN LESS THAN A WEEK AND 200 MILES THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN CLICKING. TOOK IT INTO HYUNDAI AND THEY STATED IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER 2 1/2 WEEKS THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AS HYUNDAI REFUSED TO GIVE ME A DIFFERENT CAR. SINCE THEN THE CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE, SOUNDS "CLUNKY" AND WHEN GOING AT LOW SPEEDS SOUNDS LIKE THE GEAR ISN'T ENGAGING AND SOUNDS/FEELS LIKE IT WOULD IF YOU RELEASED A CLUTCH TOO EARLY. CAR LOSES POWER AND SOUNDS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO DIE. A HISSING AND RATTLING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD HAPPENS AS WELL. AFTER TAKING IT IN TO DEALER, DEALER STATES THEY COULD NOT FIND THE SOUNDS OR NOISES OR LOSS OF POWER I WAS HAVING. RPMS REV REALLY HIGH BEFORE ENGAGING IN FIRST GEAR. DEALER STILL WON'T DO ANYTHING SINCE THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE IT. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS FOR FAILURE OF POWER AND CAR NOT ACCELERATING. TAKES ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE IT GOES. BRAKES GRAB TOO EASILY AS WELL. LOSS OF GAS MILEAGE (AROUND 6-7 MPG) WAS REPORTED TO DEALER BUT DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO "WINTER GAS." I CAN UNDERSTAND 2-3 MPG DIFFERENCE BUT 6-7 IS TOO MUCH. CAR HAS ALSO BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK FOR THE CAR ALARM GOING OFF CONSTANTLY FOR NO REASON. A PIECE OF THE WINDSHIELD PLASTIC ALSO FELL OFF FOR NO REASON WHEN CAR WAS 3 WEEKS OLD. DEALER DUCT TAPED THAT PART DOWN UNTIL A NEW PART COULD BE ORDERED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE WHILE WAITING TO COMPLETE A TURN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OCCASIONAL ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A VAPOR LEAK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE OR DUPLICATE THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF ISSUE HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,300.

THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. WHEN AT A FULL STOP AND I PRESS ON THE GAS THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE HOWEVER, THE RPMS ARE HIGH BUT THE CAR TAKES 5-6 SECONDS TO GO AND IT DOESN'T GO VERY FAST AND THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES I WAS ALMOST HIT. MY CAR JERKS WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A SLOW SPEED, IT IS THE SAME MOVEMENT AS IF YOU WERE RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND ACTUALLY JERKS MY NECK. MY REAR DRIVER'S WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. IT WAS IN THE DRIVE WAY AND WHEN I WENT OUT TO WORK IN THE MORNING, IT WAS SHATTERED. THERE IS NO IMPACT SIGHT AS EVIDENCE THAT SOMETHING HAD HIT IT. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE CAR AND WISH I NEVER BOUGHT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130.
