TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD MAKE A TURN OR HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL POP SOUND WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT OBSERVED FLUID LEAKING IN THE FRONT MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (HENDRICK CHEVROLET, 100 AUTO MALL DRIVE, CARY, NC, 27511, 919-439-5132) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER SINCE THEY WERE OUT OF STATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (DAN VADEN CHEVROLET SAVANNAH, 9393 ABERCORN ST, SAVANNAH, GA, 31406) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK, BRAKES/ ROTORS, AND TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, AN ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED. THE STEERING RACK, BRAKES/ROTORS, TIE ROD, AND ALIGNMENT WERE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE NOW SHAKES INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 8-3209374202. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,800.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH MY CAR SUDDENLY ALERTED "SERVICE STABILTRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO UTILIZE CRUISE CONTROL ANYMORE AND IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40MPH. THEN MY VEHICLE STARTED TO JERKILY MOVE & THEN IT ALERTED "STARTER DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE" AND MY CAR SHUT DOWN (STEERING ALTERED & CAR SHUT OFF). I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD & TRIED TO RESTART MY CAR (UNSUCCESSFULLY FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES). DID I MENTION I HAD MY 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED? THIS WAS TERRIFYING AS MY CAR JUST STOPPED-I HAD MINIMAL WARNING & WHEN TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE IT COULD'VE BEEN A LOT WORSE. AFTER READING HOW FREQUENTLY THIS HAPPENS, WHY HASN'T IT BEEN RECALLED?

2/17/2015 WAS THE SECOND EVENT. I WAS DRIVING APPROX- 65 MPH UP A MOUNTAIN WHEN MY ELECTRONIC DISPLAY PANEL SHOWED STABILITRACK/SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/VEHICLE IN REDUCED POWER. AS THE POWER SUDDENLY REDUCED I LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKE FUNCTION. SINCE I WAS TRAVELING AT A UP HILL GRADE, I WAS BARELY ABLE TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL ENOUGH TO ROLL ACROSS THE LANE OF TRAFFIC BESIDE ME TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WASN'T ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD COMPLETELY AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY A LOGGING TRUCK. AFTER REMOVING THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION FOR A FEW MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR WITHOUT ANY HESITATION. THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL REMAINS ON AT THIS TIME. I DID CONTACT ONSTAR AND HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH REVEALED A PROBLEM WITH SUPPOSED FUEL SYSTEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP YET. AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS SITES THAT I HAVE REVIEWED, LOOKS LIKE GM WOULD DO A RECALL AND INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. *TR

WE PURCHASED THE IMPALA IN APRIL OF 2013 WITH 35,408 MILES ON THE CLOCK, WE DROVE IT AROUND TOWN THEN WE TOOK IT ON A TRIP TO CALIFORNIA FROM LAS VEGAS A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHEN WE WHERE ON THE WAY TO CALIFORNIA ON A NOT SO STEEP DOWNGRADE WE HIT THE BRAKES AT ABOUT 70MPH TO SLOW DOWN THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY SIDE TO SIDE LIKE THE FAMOUS 'DEATH WOBBLE' BUT WE ONLY SLOWED TO ABOUT 60MPH. ON THE WAY BACK IT DID IT AGAIN THIS TIME WENT FROM 70 TO 67 MPH, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED AND GAVE ME THE DEALER COLD SHOULDER.. I REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND ALL 4 NEW TIRES AS OF TODAY AND IT STILL DOING IT, WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND SAME THING, THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE OVER 50MPH BUT THE DEALER DOES NOT CARE AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY... I WILL NEVER BUY A GM PRODUCT EVER AS LONG AS I LIVE. I TOOK VIDEO OF THE SHAKING FROM 70 TO 67MPH I WILL POST IT ON YOUTUBE. THIS CAR IS CERTIFIED TOO NOT THAT IT MEAN ANYTHING TO ANYONE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, NEARLY AT THE END OF A 50 MILE TRIP, THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY WITH NO ABNORMAL NOISES OR INDICATIONS OF PROBLEMS. I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 15 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SCREECHED TO AN IMMEDIATE HALT AND STALLED THE ENGINE. THE SUDDEN STOP WAS VIOLENT AND THREW ME AGAINST MY SEATBELT. I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTH AND WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL NOISE. I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT MADE LOUD GRINDING AND CLUNKING SOUNDS. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT STILL IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND AGAIN MADE LOUD NOISES. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND A FRIEND CAME OVER TO HELP ME PUSH THE CAR TO A MORE SAFE AREA, BUT STILL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. APPARENTLY THE DRIVETRAIN WAS LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE, NO MATTER WHAT GEAR POSITION THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN. THE CAR WAS LATER DRAGGED ON TO A FLATBED TRUCK AND TAKEN TO MY LOCAL AUTO SERVICE CENTER, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO BE FIXED UNDER THE GM 100,000MI/5 YEAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I AM VERY SHAKEN UP BY THIS INCIDENT AND FEAR WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF THE VEHICLES FRONT WHEELS WOULD HAVE VIOLENTLY LOCKED UP LIKE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FEAR THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. I HOPE GM AND THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS INCIDENT AND FIND THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH THE GOAL OF PREVENTING THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
